Training Job Overview

Instructors and trainers are needed across a wide range of fields. Some, like driving and motorcycle instructors, teach practical skills to pupils working towards a standardised qualification. Sports instructors teach disciplines like swimming, skiing, or martial arts, while gym and fitness instructors conduct exercise programmes, to a class or one on one. Animal trainers train dogs and other animals destined for the military, security, or care industry. In the workplace, training may be provided in job skills from using software to driving a fork lift. Instructors may work in-house, at a training centre, or freelance. Training coordinators oversee the training programme of an organisation, often as part of the HR team.

Educational requirements range from high school to bachelor's degree level. Some posts need a specific qualification or certification, and specialist instruction may be required in how to train others.
