Education Job Education Requirements

Moreover, teaching in a state-maintained school will require applicants to have obtained Qualified Teacher Status, which is usually achieved by studying a teaching degree or gaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

Indeed, research shows that the overall number of education jobs increased between 2013 and 2014, with increases in the number of teaching jobs for key stages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Additionally, there was a significant increase in the number of nursery jobs over the same time period. More generally, teachers seeking to work in science, technology or mathematics have especially good prospects, due to a shortage of teachers with backgrounds in those subjects.
